Vermilion River
MPA tailored the standard bridge design to incorporate a sidewalk and a pedestrian handrail on a structure that would otherwise not accommodate pedestrian traffic. Modifying the standard bridge components to provide pedestrian access resulted in cost savings by avoiding the use of a non-standard bridge layout.
MPA took great care to ensure that a replacement bridge would provide aesthetics in an urban setting. The road gradeline remained un-altered to preserve the flat roadway, cast in place concrete abutments were constructed and a galvanized tuberail bridgerail was installed. The combination of these features provided for a more visually appealing structure.
Roles and Responsibilities: Design, Tender Preparation, Construction Supervision, Post Construction.
